Easy Meen Pathiri/ Ada

 Easy Meen Ada/ Pathiri (Fish cakes/pies)

Even though this is not the traditional way of making, this is an easy and delicious meen Ada recipe to satisfy instant cravings.



Recipe:


Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rice Flour ( Appam/ pathiri/ Idiyappam rice flour)
  • Salt as needed
  • ½ Cup hot boiling water ( as needed to form a soft dough)
  • For extra flavour ( optional)
  • ¼ Cup grated coconut
  • Shallots ( I used spring onion whites)
  • Fennel seeds

Directions 

  • Grind coconut with shallots, fennel seeds and little water to a paste.
  • To rice flour add salt, coconut paste and mix well.
  • Add water little by little and form a soft, smooth dough.


Fish filling

Ingredients 

  • Oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste
  • Curry leaves
  • Green chilli
  • A small piece of tomato
  • 1 can tuna fish
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon Turmeric
  • ½ Teaspoon Kashmiri chilli powder ( according to taste)
  • ½ Teaspoon garam masala

Directions 

  • In a pan add oil, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, onion and saute.
  • Add in tomato and cook till done.
  • Add canned tuna, salt, spices and mix well. 
  • Add finely chopped coriander leaves, mix well and turn off the flame.

Meen Ada

  • Take a ball of dough, flatten it, add the filling and make tha Ada's in desired shapes.
  • Steam cook for 10-15 minutes.
